Garbage and Recycling

Garbage

Recycling

Recycling

Garbage pickup is the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month.  If one of these Mondays falls on a holiday, pickup will be TUESDAY.  Please place bags at the end of your driveway or by the mailbox.

Bags can be purchased for $2.50/bag in Wilton at Hardware Hank OR from the town shop by calling our Patrolman, Matt Zinke at 608-487-0564.

PLEASE NOTE:

Garbage bags can NOT be OVER 40lbs.  Bags weighing over 40lbs will NOT be picked up; they will need to be split into 2 or more bags depending upon the amount of garbage you have.

Recycling

Clean and dry items made of paper, cardboard, glass, metal, and plastic can be placed in our recycling bin located in the parking lot of the town hall.

∙ Paper: Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, office paper, and light cardboard

∙ Cardboard: Flattened cardboard and paperboard, including pizza delivery boxes without liners or leftovers

∙ Glass: Bottles and containers

∙ Metal: Cans, such as beer and soft drink cans, and foil

∙ Plastic: Bottles, containers, pots, tubs, and trays

Recycling

This is a reminder that the township recycling bin is for recyclable items only.

Unfortunately, we have noticed an ongoing issue with household trash and non-recyclable materials being improperly disposed of in the recycling container.  Improper use of the recycling bin jeopardizes the continuation of this service for everyone.  If this misuse continues, the recycling bin will be permanently removed, and residents will be responsible for hauling and disposing of their own waste at the local dump.  To avoid this, please ensure you are placing only accepted recyclable materials in the bin.

Common acceptable items include:

  • Paper and cardboard (clean, dry)
  • Plastic containers labeled #1–#2
  • Aluminum and tin cans
  • Glass bottles and jars (cleaned)

DO NOT PLACE:

  • Household trash or garbage
  • Food waste
  • Plastic bags
  • Styrofoam
  • Electronics or hazardous waste

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our recycling program clean and sustainable for the entire community.
