Roadside Mowing and Debris in Roadways

The Township of Wellington, located in the County of Wellington, appreciates the efforts of residents who mow the road ditches, as it helps maintain the appearance and safety of our community. However, we must firmly request that grass clippings, leaves, or other mowing debris are not blown into the roadway. This request is made for several important reasons:

Safety for motorists and motorcyclists – Grass clippings can create slippery conditions, especially for two-wheeled vehicles, increasing the risk of accidents.

Drainage and maintenance – Debris can clog culverts and storm drains, leading to water backup, erosion, and costly repairs.

Compliance with state and local regulations – Leaving debris in the roadway can be considered a traffic hazard and is subject to fines or penalties.

Aesthetics and community pride – Keeping our roads clear maintains the neat appearance of our township, enhancing the pride of the residents of Wellington, WI.

We thank all residents for their cooperation in keeping our roads safe and our township of Wellington North looking its best. For further information or assistance, please feel free to visit the Wellington Town Hall.
